This design is for 


a corporate accommodation suite for a leading manufacturer of commercial trucks and agricultural equipment in Northern China.&#38;nbsp; The suites are located at the company’s global headquarters in Rizhao, China and are designed to accommodate executive guests and visiting dignitaries.&#38;nbsp; Each suite houses a small office, a living room and a bedroom to give guests a place to work and rest between meetings.&#38;nbsp; The suites and the common spaces offer unique moments that reflect the company’s agricultural history and showcase it’s technological strength.&#38;nbsp;


	User Studies
The project was deeply driven by a series of studies focusing on the daily life of the guest.&#38;nbsp; Seven themes were developed that reflect the Wuzheng brand: not normal, open, natural, agricultural, high tech, simple, cultural. 
We worked to identify opportunities to integrate these themes into the guest experience. Cards were developed to visualize key moments throughout the guests’ day. Each card was given a title that defines the sensation or experience of that moment and provides a narrative on which we could base our decisions throughout the design process.

Market Research


Prior to designing the concepts we conducted market research to determine the types of users in the region and their expectations in an ideal vacation experience.&#38;nbsp; Using the results of these studies along with the client’s goals we were able to craft more a informed design that would have the greatest impact.

Challenge 1.1 billion people in the world lack access to a verifiable identity.&#38;nbsp; Without a verifiable identity these people lack access to essential services such as banking, healthcare, education and commerce.&#38;nbsp; Many of these people do not own a smartphone and are unable to rely on local institutions to securely store their data.&#38;nbsp;
Solution
ID PASS is an open-source digital identity solution that can be accessed via a QR Code, a smartcard, a smartphone or a desktop computer.&#38;nbsp; The product relies on verifiable claims that are digitally signed by the issuing agency and unlocked by user biometric authentication.&#38;nbsp; 
I worked with the CTO, a development team, and users from the humanitarian sector to design a proof of concept digital wallet that could be used by users to securely view and manage their personal data.&#38;nbsp; I also designed and built the company website.ID PASS Website:&#38;nbsp;https://www.idpass.org/

	How It Works
	
	
ID PASS utilizes Decentralized IDs (DID) to create a trusted identity that can be used to verify personal data, access aid and services, and record new claims. User consent is central to this process as users are able to track and manage all data attached to their DID, deciding what is shared and what is private. This allows for greater collaboration between global aid organizations like the Red Cross and the UNHCR.

	User Flow:
Among the most difficult challenges was simplifying the process of adding and verifying a claim- a complicated technical process that needed to be made simple for the user.&#38;nbsp; This led to the development of an organizational hierarchy that all claims could fall into.&#38;nbsp; This allowed for the use of templates and iconography found elsewhere in the app making for a more familiar experience for the user.

Identity Profiles
Identity profiles are used to allow family members to link their decentralized ID’s and manage relationships.&#38;nbsp; This also has the added benefit of preventing identity theft as family members can see if a profile has been wrongly linked or modified.&#38;nbsp; Additionally, each family member has a personal pin so that the privacy of their data remains under their control.

Claims WalletThe claims wallet is used to manage an individual’s claims.&#38;nbsp; The user is able to see who they have interacted with as well as initiate new interactions and control the privacy of past interactions.&#38;nbsp; Claims are separated into four main categories: credentials, health, commerce and eduction.&#38;nbsp; The categories are color coded to create clear wayfinding and organization throughout the app.

The city of San Francisco held a competition among local architects to propose a suitable replacement to the existing bathrooms and kiosks that have dotted the city streets for the last 30 years.&#38;nbsp; While working at SmithGroup I was part of the competition design team and interview team that won this project.&#38;nbsp; Our proposal, collectively called ‘Amenitrees’, line contrastingly different neighborhoods from downtown’s concrete jungle to the multiple urban parks, enhancing each by reflecting the character of their surroundings.&#38;nbsp;  Adaptation of the structures are achieved through the materiality’s reflectivity and resilient surface, an ability to easily advertise to diverse populations and a design that is uniquely San Francisco.&#38;nbsp; Trees were introduced as levitating landmarks that highlight the amenity structures while bettering the environment and providing resources to locals and tourist alike.&#38;nbsp; The trees and landscape also serve as symbols of sustainability as they are part of an innovative self-sustaining grey water system that minimizes water demand in an already drought sensitive environment.

Urban Energy Works is an architectural design and research lab based in Ann Arbor, MI. Upon the completion of their first net-positive housing project Urban Energy Works sought to establish an online presence to inform interested parties and educate visitors on sustainable design. The intended audience included members of the community, investors, students, and prospective home owners.&#38;nbsp; The initial goal of the site was to serve as an educational tool to spread awareness about the sustainability issues the project addresses as well as highlight its innovations.&#38;nbsp; As the firm grew the website was updated to showcase other projects and establish a brand that would attract new projects.


	Version 1
At this point in the company history there was only one completed project.&#38;nbsp; We decided it would be best if the website homepage was an interactive diagram to showcase the sustainable features of the project along with a short bio about the company and a way to get in touch.&#38;nbsp; Our target users were those who had recently attended an open house or heard about us through recent press.&#38;nbsp;

	Version 2
After attention from recent open houses and lectures subsided the website was updated to reveal more about the company and market UEW as an architectural service firm.&#38;nbsp; A slideshow was added to the homepage and an “Output” page was added to show both completed and in-process work.&#38;nbsp; A philosophy page and staff bios were also added to give UEW a more public face.

	Version 3
As the office grew and added new projects a more robust website was needed. Analytics showed users weren’t spending time looking through the “Output” page which was where we now wanted to direct most of our traffic. Version 3 took a new approach to highlighting our most recent projects with a visual landing page that would draw users in and allow them to explore each project in greater detail as well as give a strong first impression of the firm’s diverse portfolio. We renamed the “Output” tab to “Process” and continued to use it as a platform show the firm’s activity during projects. Version 3 also sought to establish a stronger brand identity for the firm and give more insight into its culture.

						The Sunnyvale Civic Center is home to the
City of Sunnyvale’s primary administrative facilities (City Hall), Library, and Department of
Public Safety Headquarters. This modernization plan seeks to
improve access to City services, preserve or enhance current City service levels, and improve
technology to expand service capabilities. The Civic Center Master Plan (Master Plan) contains a
long-term, multi-phased vision of the entire campus: constructing three new facilities—a City Hall,
Department of Public Safety Headquarters, and Library; razing older structures on site, relocating
most of the on-grade parking to underground spaces; increasing open space and native landscape;
and modernizing the entire campus.&#38;nbsp; I served as a project designer through the concept and schematic design alongside a landscape architect, urban planner, and design principle.

						This project was a study for a film arts center within a Five Points mixed-use development at the site of the former Candlestick Park NFL stadium.
